Chelsea Lazkani doesn’t need an estate to get real this season.
As seen in the trailer for Selling Sunset’s eighth installment, the 31-year-old will grapple with the realities of her split from husband Jeff Lazkani—which occurred in March—as it unfolds in real time.
“I heard information,” cast member Nicole Young teases in the August 13 trailer, “that could really affect families, marriages.”
But while it’s not confirmed who exactly Nicole’s talking about, an unnamed newcomer’s addition is much more straightforward: “I did hear something about Chelsea’s husband.”
The admission is followed by Bre Tiesi covering her mouth in shock, while cast members Mary Bonnet and Chrishell Stause pass around a phone, jaws dropping at whatever they see on the screen.
“They say don’t shoot the messenger,” Bre adds in a voiceover, as she can be seen walking to meet Chelsea at a restaurant, “but she’s definitely going to shoot me.”
And whatever information is shared clearly takes its toll.
“I don’t wanna do this,” Chelsea says through tears in a subsequent confessional shot. “I can’t do this.”
It shouldn’t come as a surprise that Chelsea’s divorce will play a big role in this next installment of the Netflix reality series. Since she filed for divorce in March, the split has only grown more contentious.
As she told E! News in June, “I'm in mess again. I done did it again. I'm not a mess this time, I'm in mess. Usually I create it, this time I landed right in it."
But the end of Chelsea’s marriage isn’t the only hardship the season eight trailer promises. The cast’s very livelihood will be put to the test this season.
As a voiceover says at the trailer’s opening, “The LA real estate market—things aren’t the same.”
Take it from one of the Oppenheim group founders himself. “The market is s--t right now,” Brett Oppenheim confirms. “And if you want to work at the Oppenheim Group, you have to solve problems.”
And, of course, season eight promises to have the usual interpersonal drama, too.
As seen in a scene between exes Jason Oppenheim and Chrishell, no one is above some friendly fire.
When Jason is asked what it would take him to ring the bell, his answer is, “If I sell something over 40.”
To which Chrishelle quickly quips, earning a round of laughter from the room, “How about if you date someone over 40?”
From the looks of it, it will be a must-watch season. As one of the cast promises at the trailer’s close, “Relationships, friendships—everything’s gonna change.”
So don’t miss the premiere of Selling Sunset season eight on September 6.
